تمّ التقاط هذه الصورة في إطار تجربة "سوميت وان فاندربيلت" التي تُعدّ من أكثر التجارب الغامرة إذ تتيح لك رؤية العالم من منظور جديد. هذه التجربة هي عبارة عن مصعدٍ زجاجي مصنوعٍ من أسطح عاكسة للضوء مصبوبة على نوافذ مترامية الأطراف تطلّ على الأفق الآسر، ويحتلّ مبنى إمباير ستيت مقدّمة الإطلالة. كلّف هذا المشروع 3.3 مليار دولار وصمّمته شركة الهندسة المعمارية كوهن بيدرسن فوكس وشركائها.
