The High Line, New York, USA (2009)
The High Line is an elevated linear park and greenway created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan. The abandoned spur has been redesigned as a "living system" drawing from multiple disciplines, including landscape architecture, urban design, and ecology. Inspired by the Promenade plantée in Paris its success has inspired cities throughout the U.S. to redevelop obsolete infrastructure as public spaces.
