Led by a b'alvatztiixh, an Ixil spiritual guide (centre), relatives participate in a Mayan ceremony honouring their loved ones, in Ixtupil, Nebaj, Guatemala. The 47 people died—most likely from malnutrition, disease and hypothermia—between 1982 and 1984 while hiding in the mountains from military persecution. Their remains were exhumed in 2013.

بقيادة بالفادزيكس، وهو مرشد روحي لشعب إكسيل (في الوسط)، يشارك الأنسباء في حفل لشعوب المايا لتكريم أحبائهم في إكستوبيل، نباج، غواتيمالا. من المرجّح أن يكون أولئك الأشخاص البالغ عددهم 47 شخصاً قد توفّوا بسبب سوء التغذية والمرض وانخفاض حرارة الجسم بين عامَي 1982 و1984 بينما كانوا يختبئون في الجبال من الاضطهاد العسكري. وقد تمّ استخراج رفاتهم في العام 2013.
