The old pagan ritual of the bell-bearers (Kodonoforoi) of Macedonia, a Dionysian tradition that has survived from ancient times until today in the Drama and Kavala regional units in Greece. Participants can be seen wearing masks made of animal skin, ringing bells strapped around their waists, and covering their faces with ash. According to residents' accounts, it symbolises the call for a fertile and productive year.

الطقوس الوثنية القديمة لحاملي الجرس (كودونوفوروي) في مقدونيا وهي تقليد ديونيسي ما زال سارياً حتى يومنا هذا في محافظتَي دراما وكافالا في اليونان. يمكن رؤية المشاركين يضعون الأقنعة المصنوعة من جلود الحيوانات ويقرعون الأجراس المربوطة حول خصورهم فيما يغطون وجوههم بالرماد. وبحسب روايات السكان المحليين، تُعتبر هذه الطقوس دعوةً رمزية إلى سنةٍ خصبة وجيدة مليئة بالإنتاجية.
