TIDAL SURGE, NEW ZEALAND, 2001
I visualised the surging motion of an incoming tide with a long exposure as a wave swept through kelp along the shore of a remote island between New Zealand and Antarctica. Millions of petrels and penguins use this island as a home base for a life that is dependent on the bounty of the surrounding sub-Antarctic waters.
