Mending the nets
On a beach in Sierra Leone’s remote Turtle Islands, a boy mends holes in his net, which utilises recycled plastic sandals for floats. The community here has long relied on the ocean for its protein and its income, yet coastal erosion, exacerbated by increasingly severe storms, is becoming an ever greater threat to the the islanders’ way of life.
