يعتبر ميمون أبو الهول من أكثر الثديات تميزاً بألوانه، وتبرز الخطوط الملونة بشكل واضح على وجوه الذكور ومؤخراتهم، ولتلك الألوان دلالات تجذب الإناث وتساعدهم على تحديد مواقع بعضهم البعض في الغابات الكثيفة. يعيش هذا الحيوان في منطقةٍ صغيرة من غرب إفريقيا ويُعتبر مهدداً بالانقراض.
