A man performs the noon prayer at the shrine of Imam Hussein in Karbala, Iraq, during the Arba’een pilgrimage.
Every year, large numbers of visitors from all over Iraq flock to the holy Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala before the Arba’een, which falls on the fortieth day after Ashura, to commemorate the killing of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, in the seventh century AH.

رجل يصلي صلاة الظهر في حرم الإمام الحسين في كربلاء، العراق، أثناء زيارة الأربعين.
كل عام، يتوافد أعداد كبيرة من الزوار من كافة أنحاء العراق إلى المدن العراقية المقدسة النجف وكربلاء قبل الأربعين، والذي يصادف اليوم الأربعين بعد عاشوراء، إحياءً لمقتل حفيد النبي محمد الإمام الحسين في القرن السابع الهجري.
