يعد جبل غروسغلوكنر أعلى جبل في النمسا وأعلى جبل من جبال الألب شرق ممر بيرنر ويرتفع 3,798 متراً فوق مستوى سطح البحر، وهو جزء من سلسلة جبال الألب. كما تقع أكبر بحيرة جليدية في المنسا على المنحدر الشرقي لهذا الجبل. ويمتاز الجبل بطبيعة خلابه تعد الأجمل في العالم. وتعيش فيه بعض الحيوانات النادرة منها النسر الذهبي والمرموط.
