Silesia Park & Zoological Garden, Katowice, Poland (1957)
Silesia Park was built in the heart of Poland's most industrialized and populated region. Until the 1950s, most of this huge wasteland was covered in mining slag heaps, bootleg mines, and garbage dumps. The park was created from an initiative of the local communist-party leader. This green space is unique because of its dinosaur valley, which contains full-scale reconstructions of dinosaurs, the remains of which came from the Gobi Desert.
