Staff at Jesus Divine Temple say they stopped using chains to restrain people with mental health conditions two years ago. Some patients are now allowed to walk freely through the church grounds. Five residents, who they consider aggressive or at risk of harming themselves or others, are locked alone in small rooms in two buildings at the back of the property. Staff say that in the past, the government Mental Health Authority provided psychiatric medication, but that this has now stopped. Central Region, Ghana, November 2019.

يفيد الموظفون في معبد يسوع الإلهي أنّهم توقفوا عن استخدام السلاسل لتكبيل الأشخاص الذين يعانون من مشاكل عقلية قبل عامين. يُسمح الآن لبعض المرضى بالتنقّل بحرية عبر أراضي الكنيسة. يُعتبر خمسة مرضى عدوانيين أو مؤذيين لأنفسهم أو للآخرين، لذا يتمّ حبسهم وحدهم في غرف صغيرة في مبنيين منفصلين في الجزء الخلفي من العقار. كما يفيد الموظفون أنّ هيئة الصحة العقلية الحكومية كانت تُقدّم في الماضي أدوية العلاج النفسي، إلّا أنّ هذا قد توقّف الآن. المنطقة الوسطى، غانا، نوفمبر 2019.
