تتمحور عدّة أساطير ومعتقدات إفريقية حول الطائر المعروف باسم أبو قرن. فيعتقدُ البعض أنه يحمي من مشاكل الطقس بينما يعتقد آخرون أنه مِرسال الموت. كما يُعتقد بأنه يعطي القوة للفرد ليستطيع تحقيق أحلامه أو ليتخلص من الأرواح الشريرة.
