Every Justice Ride, we shut down traffic by overtaking streets, bridges, and highways. While inconveniencing thousands of motorists, our intent was to pressure the local officials to create policy change. That summer, NYC placed a ban on chokeholds, decreased police funding, added additional mandatory training, and repealed a law that keeps officers’ prior records secret.
