Every winter between Christmas and New Year in the northeastern regions of Romania, the annual “Dance of the Bears” takes place, a ritual that symbolizes the death and rebirth of time. Men and women of all ages dress in bear skins and dance to the rhythm of flutes and percussion instruments to drive away evil spirits and welcome the new year.

في كل شتاء، بين عيد الميلاد ورأس السنة، في المناطق الشمالية الشرقية من رومانيا، تُقام رقصة الدببة السنوية وهي عبارة عن مراسم ترمز إلى موت الزمان وإعادة إحيائه. يرتدي الرجال والنساء من جميع الأعمار جلود الدببة ويرقصون على إيقاع المزامير وآلات القرع لإبعاد الأرواح الشريرة واستقبال السنة الجديدة.
