Noakhali, Bangladesh
Bhasan Char, also known as Char Piya, is an environmentally unstable island, prone to flooding and cyclones. The government suggested resettling Rohingya refugees here. 100,000 homes were built four feet above the ground, in order to protect the refugees from high tidal waves. The Rohingya are not allowed to move off the island. The island is largely made of silt, and it is feared that it will be destroyed by yet more floods and cyclones.
