45 minutes after the start of the EVA, Aldrin sets up the solar wind experiment. Here, he’s pointing the correct side at the Sun to collect ions from the solar wind. At the end of the mission it will be wrapped up and brought back for analysis. Note something unusual in the small crater in the foreground. Armstrong: “Something interesting in the bottom of this little crater here . . . It may be . . .” Armstrong didn’t complete his sentence.
