This specimen is a fruit that has opened to release its seeds and in so doing created a wonderful heart shape. It was collected from Aspidosperma tomentosum, a semideciduous shrub or tree ranging from 4 to 25 m in height. This species comes from South America, where it is found in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.
