This partial dissection of the fruit has exposed the seed which, although now dried out and a little bit degraded, would have been bright red when fresh and probably dispersed by birds. The wood is sold for use in light construction (trade name Tapmis) and sometimes for the veneer. The bark is used to produce a fish poison, and in Western New Guinea it is used to combat head lice.
