Located at the far west end of the Roman Forum, the Temple of Vespasian was built by the emperor’s sons, Titus and Domitian, following his death in A.D. 79. The frieze consists of priestly insignia: cap, sprinkler, pitcher, sacrificial knife, patera, saucer, ladle, and ax. In the center of the view are the columns of the Portico of the Die Consentes, built in 376 by Vettius Praetextatus.
